Clown in 2 ways

Clown in 2 Ways is a pay-what-you-can work-in-progress night featuring two solo performances that approach clown, comedy, and storytelling from radically different directions.

Kenneth Cheung presents a satirical clown show exploring what it means to be Asian in the Western world. Through his portrayal of “a white man,” he blends dark humour, physical comedy, bouffon clownery, and surrealism to reveal how Asian stories are often depicted through a Western lens. Mixing absurdity with uncomfortable truths, Kenneth invites audiences to laugh, squirm, and reflect on representation, masculinity, and Asian identity.
(Audience participation highly encouraged.)

Chase Jeffels presents I’ve Got Nothing — a fully improvised tragic comedy. One person. An empty stage. No script, no plan. Using a mix of solo improv, clowning, riffing, and audience interaction, the piece is built live in the room as Jeffels tries—sometimes desperately—to entertain in any way possible. It’s chaotic, playful, and unpredictable, moving quickly between laughter, failure, and moments of surprising emotional honesty.

The evening is hosted by Emily Jeffers, who will open the night and guide the audience through the show while testing out new character work along the way.

This is unfinished work shared in public.
Two artists. Two sensibilities. One night of experimentation.
Come see it while it’s still being figured out.
