Who are we?

We (Joshua & Morgan) met in a workshop at Sweet Action Theatre in our pursuit of clown in our professional and personal lives. We just love it.

Clown is inherently vulnerable and so S&S was born out of a desire to push the limits of that vulnerability by inviting nudity into our play and by ‘playing the game’ of burlesque.  

How does a clown interpret the act of stripping off layers? 

J&M came together to create an environment where our comedian & clown peers felt comfortable to really let their guard down and to try a new, very revealing art form in a safe space.

What is our show?

Throughout history, Clowns and Burlesquers have always played alongside each other and Sweet & Sultry bridges that gap, bringing these two art forms together.

Our show asks the questions: what is a clown’s interpretation of burlesque? How do our comedians find the funny and the sexy in exposing themselves to a live audience?

Anything goes in this show. We put the sensual in consensual by offering our audience colourful necklaces to indicate whether they would like to interact or participate with our performers, creating an environment where everyone feels safe. 

No two shows are the same because we have stacked this show with a rotating cast of performers. Even if you see one act performed twice, they won't ever be the exact same because clown and burlesque performances are based on the reciprocal relationship between the performer and audience.
