The Time of Monsters

The Time of Monsters features three short plays. There are two showtimes, one at 7pm followed by another at 8:30pm.

THIS IS A PROFIT SHARE EVENT! All ticket sales will be divided evenly between the cast and crew. Your purchase directly supports local artists!

Our show takes inspiration from the famous quote by Italian Marxist philosopher Antonio Gramsci, who wrote: “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.” We feel that this phrase, and our three plays, reflect the bizarre, chaotic and often terrifying times we're living in.

Join us for a night of absurdist comedy, explosive political commentary and outrageous satire at The Time of Monsters triple bill!

THE PLAYS:

You-Boat (Written & Directed by Sara Sabbagh, Based on a video by Luke Humphris): A group of privileged elites sail the ocean on a luxury yacht, served by their dutiful and diligent ship crew. But what begins as an evening of leisure soon becomes a watery nightmare for the passengers of the ill-fated vessel.

Carpe Noctem (Written & Directed by Calyx Passailaigue): Wealthy aristocrat Lee owns a popular nightclub. But behind the glitz and glamour, she hides a terrible secret. Tonight, the air in the club is electric as Lee and her assistant Candy hunt for their next human sacrifice!

Mustard Men (Written & Directed by Calyx Passailaigue): Set during World War 1, Mustard Men follows three soldiers stranded in “No Man’s Land,” the bomb scarred territory between two armies. Inspired by Samuel Beckett’s absurdist masterpiece “Waiting for Godot.”
