Jenna Shows

8:10 pm - 9:05 PM

Jenna “the human jukebox (musical)” Shows [take(s)] you (on) a cigarette stained odyssey through a seemingly random/infinite repertoire of songs permanently ingrained in her psyche. With a vocal range falling somewhere between Liza Minelli and Leonard Cohen and no other socially acceptable forum where she can be her authentic self, this eclectic selection proves (if nothing more) that for this autist masking is strongly recommended.

WINNING: Winning

9:20 pm - 10:15 PM

WINNING:Winning
with Gordon Neill, MBA, Oscar

You are about to watch a man try very, very hard to succeed. He will not succeed. He will try again.

This is a silent-ish clown show about a lovable loser, his close personal mentor, Tony Robbins, and the long road from rock bottom back to the top.

Also I guess there is a 10,000 character limit to this? I'm only at 645 so far. Oh no. I guess I'll write whatever comes to mind so that I can at least catch up to the average which I'm guessing is somewhere right in the middle around 5,000. I'm no over-achiever, but I ain't no under-achiever either.

How is Nut Blanche going so far? I'll be honest with you, I've only done a couple of things at Nut Blanche before, as a patron. I remember seeing something projected on a building, that was awesome. And then I remember going into a building where there were people dressed as zombies? Like, is Nut Blanche a zombie thing? It's not, right? Maybe tangentially but it's not a Halloween thing I think. Anyways, whatever it is, I think it's a fun night out, and I'm CHUFFED to be a part of it.

Goddamn, I'm only at 1395 characters. I'm running out of things to say. Gotta dig deep I guess. Here's a fun thing: I'm going to try out for an improv team! Just for fun. I kinda miss being on a team. All the solo clown work is fun, and when you see the show it might not seem scripted at all but it's actually pretty tightly run. That's the thing about clown, you find some magic somewhere, and it's a hilarious belly-laugh-style time, but then you try it again and it just dies. We spend a long time trying to figure out how to find that magic again.. that's the work, just finding the magic night in and night out. So yeah, that's a beautiful skill to develop and it's so wonderful to play to audiences. I just kinda miss have nothing and trying to build something with a team. Maybe I'll chicken out by the time this show happens.

OH NO only 2,219 characters. OK, here's something kinda interesting: darn, I thought I had something interesting but when I thought it through it turns out it wasn't so interesting after all.

Let's talk DJing, and track energy management. That's what I'm spending a little time on these days. So I use "rate your music" to find all the genres of all of the music I have, including parent genres and sub-genres, and I designate each track a 1-5 on those genres (so a 5 R&B track will have more energy than a 3 R&B track). Where it starts to get a little tricky is when you start looking at, for example, a rock track vs a soul track. Sometimes a rock track might be super low energy, but it's still middle of the road energy if you compare it to a soul track. So anyways, as more of an open format dj I suppose this is one of the most important places for me to spend my time, figuring out how much energy there is in a track so that I can play the right track at the right time. There's probably better ways to do all of this.. I'm sure old school djs just know all of their tracks inside and out but my brain sucks so I need a quick way to find tracks in the ballpark of the energy level I'm looking for. If any of you are djs and want to drop me a line you can reach me at gordon@sweetaction.ca. No worries if you'd rather not strike up that conversation though, I get it.

MAN OH MAN i'm only at 3612 characters??????? WHAT IS HAPPENING!??? ugh. I'm gonna call it here. Under-achieving like usual. I guess I am a loser.

or....

am I? You can figure that out for yourself if you watch WINNING:Winning all the way to the end.

Oke byebye thanks for coming <3

10,000 Digits of pi

3:14 Am - 4:10 AM

Frequently Asked Questions!

1. How does ‘10,000 Digits of Pi’ work as a show?

Vinay recites digits of pi and every time he makes a mistake (or goes too slow) he must do a punishment from the audience.

2. How will I know Vinay is making a mistake?

The numbers are displayed on screen for the audience to follow along.

3. What kind of punishments come up in the show? I don’t like to see people getting hurt!

The punishments are generally fun like ‘Truth or Dare’. Vinay will not do anything to get physically hurt but there is no limit on how much you can embarrass him!

4. How does Vinay remember the digits?

He uses an ancient memory palace technique that maps the digits to images and places them in a memory palace. These images are also shown on screen and Vinay made

each one by hand!

5. How does the memory palace work?

Each image maps to six digits. The image is usually a person doing an action with an object or another person. The person denotes the first two digits, the action the middle two and the object/second person denotes the last two digits.

In the image shown, the person is ‘Stephen Hawking’ and he maps to the digits ‘68’ because his initials are S and H, S maps to 6 and H maps to 8. ‘Dunking’ is the action that belongs to Shaq (a basketball player). He maps to the digits ‘60’ because his initials are S and O and S maps to 6 and O maps to 0. ‘Hilary Duff’ is being dunked on and she maps to the digits ‘84’ because H maps to ‘8’ and D maps to ‘4’.

For every number from 00 to 99, there is a unique person associated with it (mostly following the mapping shown above) with a distinct action and object.

To remember the order of the numbers, the images are placed in a memory palace. Vinay’s memory palace is abstract and is split into sections with each section having 5 images.

6. That was a long explanation and I still don’t get it, do I need to understand this to watch the show?

No, it’s not necessary to understand how the memory palace works to see the show, most people don’t care.

7. What is pi?

Pi is defined as the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter. In its decimal form, it has infinitely many digits with no repeating patterns.

8. How is this a comedy show? It can’t be good, right?

The show has gotten multiple 4 star reviews and was nominated for the Malcolm Hardee Comic Originality Award in Edinburgh.

9. I am still reading this, where do I follow Vinay on social media?

You can follow Vinay on his instagram at: https://instagram.com/vinaycsagar.

Frankenstein’s mirror

4:25 Am - 5:20 AM

A human-shaped monster attempts to ask "What am I?". An ancient mariner falls out of a bag of potato chips. A robot computes.

Michael is a Toronto-based actor/performer/clown/creator. His solo-character pieces have been performed on variety/cabaret stages across the city, and he has appeared in ensemble works in Toronto Fringe and Hamilton Fringe.

"Frankenstein's Mirror" is Michael's first attempt at an hour-length solo show. This early-phase work-in-progres features a mix of new and established pieces (aka "bits"), loosely contextualized as a man/monster's journey to determine which aspects of a person are really "them".

Themes include innocence, ego, identiy, and toxic masculinity -- all drowning in a sauce of surreal stupidity.
