I’ve had the good fortune to work on several exciting indie film projects, writing and producing songs and even full scores. I also write my own songs. No matter what the project it’s always song writing for pleasure and purpose.

“Novelty” is my latest song, performed and produced by me. F*ckgirls! Episode One - The Manifesto was my first full scoring project.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I create music for the joy and fun I experience in the craft itself. Whether I'm rehearsing in the basement with my "garage band" or helping a friend mix an almost finished song, living in the moment of creating music means more to me than anything else. I am endeavoring to build up my skills in music production and song writing in order to collaborate more often with more people and to live in many more moments of joy and fun making music with them. 

My main decision maker is my gut; I don't shy away from the choice to make songs sound accessible rather than challenging or different. If it sounds good to me, I will stick with it. I believe that every instrument I play, or pre-set I choose has a song for me buried inside it, and my job is to bring that song out. In my process I will pick up new instruments and just play. The techniques, themes and concepts all flow from the song the instrument is giving me. 

I am currently exploring pop music production. The idea of being able to affect thousands or millions of people with a song that has something inherently universal within it is mind blowing to me. In the past I had always looked down on pop music for essentially being popular and "easy" to create, especially as a guitar player who spent hours and hours a day in the "woodshed", but in my current work I'm finding pop music is extremely difficult to do well and to become successful with. Everything needs to come together, from a locked in groove, to accessible but meaningful lyrics, to new and interesting sound design, the perfect kick, exceptional performances and even more exceptional production to glue it all together. It's a mountain of challenge to climb. 

Because I enjoy the craft so much, the joy will always be there for me, and so I continue on, looking to unlock the secrets of reaching millions with a smile on my face.
