None of you have asked for it, so it’s finally happening!

After 14 sold out BRUNCH!es, The Ridiculous Institute of Funny presents the first-ever … Weekend BRUNCH!

That’s right, we’re smashing our 6 week Sunday playground into two straight days of BRUNCH! workshop action, and we need YOU to be our taste testers!

But what the gosh darn is this BRUNCH! thing you ask?

Brought to you by Sweet Action Theatre, Toronto’s Home for the Ridiculous, BRUNCH! is a wonderful meal most anytime of year, but it’s also what happens when Canadian comedy legends Ken Hall and Isaac Kessler team up with Canadian finance legend Gordon Neill to create a spiritually mathematical science based approach©️ to creative play©️ of course. Lol jkjk©️, just our own school haha©️. It’s kinda like school, but just the recess part.

A school called The Ridiculous Institute of Funny, and Level 1 = BRUNCH!

At Sweet Action Theatre, we find joy in failure, and this class is no different! We’re going to explore audience connection, group mind, Devising, the Neutral body, energy, musicality, rhythm and more - and all with creative play©️ in mind (...and body). As you can see, we have lofty goals for this class. We may fail at reaching them all, but we’re going to have fun trying together.

We would love to bring the BRUNCH! joy to communities outside of Toronto, so we are developing a weekend intensive that can do just that! And “Intensive” is a pretty intense word, but worry not, because the only thing we’re intense about is how serious we are about Play!

Join us for this special weekend workshop, and come get a nibble at what all the fun is about!

Weekend BRUNCH! will be held Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8 from 10am-5pm each day!

meet the Instructors:

Ken Hall

Ken Hall is a Canadian Comedy Award Winner (Best Breakout Artist) and multiple CCA award nominee including most recently Comedic Artist of the Year. Ken is also is one-half of the critically acclaimed comedic duo 2-MAN NO-SHOW with Isaac Kessler.

Ken has appeared in numerous film and television roles including two seasons on TBS’s hit series PEOPLE OF EARTH and has appeared as a guest on CONAN.

He has had the pleasure to work for CIRQUE DE SOLEIL and appears in the Netflix series THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY and the Netflix feature film POLAR.

Isaac Kessler

As one half of improv/sketch sensation 2-MAN NO-SHOW, Isaac and Ken Hall have wowed audiences and critics at North America's top Comedy Festivals, and performed a full run at the 2010 Edinburgh Comedy Festival. 2-MAN NO-SHOW attack every stage with their signature hyperphysical, hilarious and fourth-wall-breaking "ClownProv"-style that is unlike anything you've ever experienced. They were nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards as Best Improv Troupe and Best Comedic Show, as well as Toronto's Best Improv Troupe of 2013 & 2014 by NOW Magazine. Check them out every month at Bad Dog Theatre in their power packed duo show PARTY HARD HARD PARTY.

Isaac's second comedy mistress is the fabulous foursome, S&P -- Standards & Practices. S&P perform cutting edge longform improv comedy, and were selected as one of the top five improv troupes in North America by the acclaimed NYC Friars Comedy Club. They were invited to perform at the UCB Theatre in New York alongside four other amazing improv troupes.

Isaac studied Clown and Physical Theatre with the world-renowned Philippe Gaulier (mentor of Sacha Baron Cohen), Paola Coletto, John Gilkey (Cirque du Soleil), Dr. Brown (Philip Burgers), and Aitor Basauri of Spymonkey fame. He teaches improv at Second City and The Social Capital Theatre, and has produced workshops for some of North America's finest theatrical instructors. He has recently completed a 5-month Lecoq-based Physical Theatre Acting Conservatory in Los Angeles under the tutelage of the incredible Paola Coletto.
